It is with great pride and delight that we can tell you all that our very own Anne Twomey has been chosen as a Civic Award winner by The Lord Mayor of Cork.
The Community and Voluntary Awards is an annual awards ceremony held in City Hall. The purpose of the awards is to acknowledge groups which, through their commitment to voluntary and community activities, have played a significant role in enhancing the quality of life in their communities.
These groups continue to work in a hugely diverse range of areas – from caring for the elderly to arranging cultural events, from organising youth groups to supporting residents associations – and a host of other community activities. The awards recognise the contribution of these groups to the social and cultural life of Cork City.
Anne has been chosen because of her work with North Presentation Adult Education and The Shandon Area History Club. I think you will all agree she deserves this. Fantastic achievement.
Well done Anne.
